Joël Klein is a Postdoc in the Molecular Biology group in Wageningen, working in the group of Rene Geurts. His research focuses on the evolution of nitrogen fixation in the Parasponia and Trema clade. He obtained his Ph.D. in the Plant-Microbe Interactions group at the Utrecht University. Before he started his Ph.D. he already gained experience in the nitrogen fixation field during his master's thesis under the guidance of Rene Geurts. His expertise lies in comparative genomics and phylogenetics to gain understanding in the root nodule symbiosis with a specific focus on on crack entry infection mechanisms.
